This is a fun and relaxing day trip to catch some sea air and chance to unwind away from the hectic world of Marrakech. Formerly known as Mogador, it’s known for its annual Gnaoua Music Festival in June as well as its connections with Jimi Hendrix. There is an arty feel with a laid back atmosphere.
You can watch the busy fishermen unloading their catch in the working port, enjoy a number of watersports or relax in one of the pretty cafes and enjoy a little people watching.
The white washed town with its blue shuttered houses has a long promenade bordering a wide arc of sandy beach and you can enjoy grilled freshly caught fish for lunch whilst watching the waves roll in and out. In the medina you can wander round the hassle free souks filled with textiles, jewellery, ceramics, musical instruments and handmade wooden items. A visit to one of the markets located under the arcs is highly recommended and you can carpenters hard at work in their thuya wood workshops.
In the late afternoon you return to Marrakech
