Essaouira Day Trips

Essaouira Day Trip (1 day)  – Taroudant

We will collect you after breakfast from your Essaouira accommodation and head into the beautiful Souss Valley to Taroudant.

A friendly Berber market town, situated between the High and Anti Atlas mountains, Taroudant is a charming glimpse of “Real Morocco.”  Off the usual tourist trail, visitors will experience authenticity and a relaxed atmosphere.

You can enjoy a horse and carriage ride as the best way to see the exceptionally complete 6km of honey gold town walls and numerous intact gates. There will be time for lunch and we recommend visiting the two souks. This is a great opportunity to see the local way of life and enjoy browsing or shopping. In comparison to some other Moroccan towns, here they are hassle free and full of interesting products offering excellent value for money on a variety of locally crafted products, particularly jewelry and carpets.

Enjoy an afternoon stroll in this compact and rather elegant town, there is a palpable sense of mystique here and the souks are a hive of activity. There is a pedestrianised area which comes alive in late afternoon as the weather cools which has recently seen the return of traditional street performers such as storytellers, snake charmers and musicians – after all this is known as mini Marrakech

We will return you to your accommodation in Essaouira by the end of the day.

Essaouira Day Trip (1 day)  – Marrakech

We will collect you after breakfast from your Essaouira accommodation and in just 2hrs and 30mins we will arrive in  Marrakech.

Marrakech is situated in the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains and is an intoxicating city famous throughout the world for its souks, spices, snake charmers and hidden palaces, though these days it’s prized as much for its trendy art galleries, hip hotels and elegant hammams, it certainly lives up to the hype, and not only thanks to its fabled ancient medina.

The famous souk (market) houses over 60,000 stalls full of colourful handmade wares. While the Medina resort has a very contemporary feel, many Arabic features remain. For sheer entertainment, head to the open space of Jemaa el Fna. Thronging with locals each evening, the legendary central square hosts dozens of food stalls, serving up a huge variety of (mostly) high quality street food.

For something a little more relaxing, the breath-taking Majorelle Gardens, also known as the Yves Saint Laurent memorial gardens, are the perfect place to unwind. French painter Jacques Majorelle dedicated his life to creating this enchanting garden in the heart of the City.

This mystical city pulsates with life and manages to be bohemian, cultured, traditional, magical and romantic. Exotic wares, snake charmers and musicians line the streets as you’re tantalised by the most vibrant array of colours and scents to be found anywhere.

We can stay as long as you wish before returning you to your accommodation in Essaouira.

Essaouira Day Trip (1 day)  – Paradise Valley / Imouzzer

We will collect you after breakfast from your Essaouira accommodation and drive to Imouzzer and Paradise Valley. This is a wonderful experience and we drive the coast road through Paradise Valley up the mountains to Imouzzer.

Paradise Valley is a beautiful palm lined gorge. There is a 3 km walking trail or you can hire a mule to explore the valley’s Berber villages.  We then drive on through the High Atlas Mountains along a winding road to Imouzzer Waterfalls and full plunge pool. The waterfalls and scenery are stunning and you will also have the opportunity to explore the small town and shop for local handicrafts, traditional Berber jewellery and the local speciality, honey which has a lavender and slightly peppery taste.  If you’re very lucky it is possible to spot Golden Eagles here.

At the end of the day we will return to your accommodation in Essaouira.
